WASHINGTON / RankWire.AI / – The U.S. Treasury Department has scheduled three debt auctions for next week, with a total of $119 billion in notes and bonds to be issued. The process begins on Oct. 6 with a sale of $58 billion in three-year notes. On Oct. 7, the Treasury will auction $39 billion of 10-year notes. The sequence concludes on Oct. 8 with a $22 billion offering of 30-year bonds. These three auctions are part of Treasury’s usual financing calendar and align with the sizes outlined in the latest quarterly refunding schedule.

The newly issued three-year note will mature on Oct. 15, 2029. Meanwhile, the 10-year note will be a reopening of an existing security with a 4.625% coupon, which matures on Aug. 15, 2036. The 30-year bond will also be a reopening, specifically of a 5.125% security that matures on Aug. 15, 2056. Reopening a security increases the total amount outstanding while keeping the original coupon rate and maturity date intact. Investors can submit either competitive bids, specifying the yield they accept, or noncompetitive bids, agreeing to the auction’s final yield, under Treasury’s standard process.
All three securities will settle on Oct. 15, consistent with the schedule published by the U.S. Treasury Department. After each auction, the Treasury releases detailed data, including the final pricing, bid details, and allocation results. The high yield, accepted bids, and the amount allotted are typically part of this information. These notes and bonds pay fixed interest and are major components of the federal government’s marketable debt portfolio.
Upcoming Series of Treasury Auctions to Consecutively Issue Debt
The October auctions follow similar sales in September for the same 10-year and 30-year securities. On September 9, Treasury sold $39 billion of the 10-year note. This auction achieved a high yield of 4.834% and drew bids totaling approximately $105.8 billion, resulting in a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.71. The note carries a 4.625% coupon and matures in August 2036. The October reopening will add another $39 billion of this note to the outstanding amount.
On September 10, Treasury sold $22 billion of the 30-year bond. The auction yielded a high rate of 5.308%. Investors submitted bids totaling roughly $57.5 billion, resulting in a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.61. The bond offers a 5.125% coupon and matures in August 2056. The upcoming October sale will add another $22 billion of this security, with final yield, pricing, bid, and allocation data being released after the auction closes Thursday.
Debt Issuance Aligns with October Financing Goals
These auctions are part of a comprehensive borrowing plan for the last quarter of 2026. The Treasury projected $628 billion in net marketable borrowing from October through December, based on an end-of-year cash balance estimate of $850 billion. The federal government funds its marketable debt through regular issuance of bills, notes, bonds, and other securities. The Treasury manages issuance across different maturities through its established financing process, providing scheduled auction dates and borrowing estimates for investors.
The $119 billion total matches the amounts listed in the Treasury’s August financing plan for October. This plan included $58 billion for three-year notes, $39 billion for 10-year notes, and $22 billion for 30-year bonds. The sequence begins on Tuesday with the three-year note, followed by the 10-year on Wednesday and the 30-year on Thursday. After each auction, the Treasury will publish official results, including the pricing, yield, and demand figures for next week’s U.S. government debt offerings.
